Hayes Hopkinson studied at Brighton university and currently lives and works in London, UK.
Hayes’s work reflects our media saturated society in all its fractured forms, he employs a bombardment of unrelated images to produce unexpected narratives and twists. He uses traditional painting methods in unconventional ways producing a bleak, dark but humorous quality to his work.
Drawing from personal experience and using mass produced media imagery he contrasts considered mark making with immediate improvised gestures exploring the area where a drawing stops and a painting begins.
He has work in private collections and has graces album covers for The Kooks and The Marmozets.
